The Freedom Train began as a New Jersey-Pennsylvania venture in which disability organizations in the northeast embarked on a train ride to the nation's capitol to meet up with riders of the "Freedom Express."
The Freedom Express started in Alabama, passed through 6 states and ended in DC during the first week in October 2000 when the Supreme Court prepared to hear the Garrett case and test the constitutionality of the ADA.
